Re: HB6 – Property Tax - Notice - 60-Day Appeal – Support

Dear Delegate Hixson:

HB6 would require a contract for the sale of real property to contain a notice that the new owner of property, transferred after January 1 and before the beginning of the next taxable year, may submit a written appeal as to a value or classification of the property on or before 60 days after the transfer.

The Legislative Committee of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce supports this bill. This bill would expand the rights of new homeowners and help to mitigate the impact that an obsolete tax assessment can have on a home purchase.

We therefore ask that your committee give this bill a favorable report.

Sincerely,

Richard Haddad

President

CC: Senator Larry E. Haines
