Name: Jason Stambaugh
Company: IFS Services, Inc.
1.) What does your organization do?
We power a suite of online cash management tools used in over 70,000 retail and restaurant locations across North America.
2.) What was your first job?
I started out as a “gopher” in the family painting business at the age of 9. My job was to “go-for this” or “go-for that”, retrieving required tools, paint, etc. from the work truck for the onsite crew.
3.) How did you choose the field you are in?
I landed an internship at IFS Services, Inc. in the spring semester of my senior year at McDaniel College in 2007. My assignment was data analytics, which I found out quickly, was not my strength. The owner of the company asked me if I would like to try selling a new online product the firm built to address the pain points major retailers had managing cash. I said “yes”, and through all the highs and lows of cold-calling and product demos, I found my joy in problem solving, innovation, and technology.

Spending time with family and friends, smoking meats, playing poker, and learning about blockchain/crypto.

Atomic Habits by James Clear is a must-read. It’s changed the way I think about solving problems personally and professionally.

“Coyote” by Stop Light Observations.
